Errata for Patterns & Books |
|
| No one is perfect and neither
am I. This page is to correct errors that are found
in my pattern and books. Some are human error and are
missed in the proofing process others are program glitches
as in Corel Draw moved my text boxes on me and cut
off a sentence. Thus I will post which patterns or
books have problems and approximately where in the
text the problem is. In any case as I find these errors
be they human or computer ones I do replace my originals
so that future copies of each item have the corrections. If you ever find an error not listed here please let me know so I can post a correction. My talent lies in drafting the patterns and writing the instructions is a weakness of them at this time. Any questions and problems you encounter as a customer will enable me to improve my patterns current and future. |
ALL Patterns designed before May of 2003Replace a dryer sheet with water soluble stabilizer for bodices and tear away stabilizer for skirts. The exceptions are the those patterns that are a torso bodice dress as in the 1895 wedding gown or the 1899 French Dress. To trace to the water soluble stabilizer use an Ultra Fine Sharpie. To trace to the tear away stabilizer just use a soft lead pencil as a mechanical pencil's lead is too sharp and tends to tear the stabilizer. For thin handkerchief or scarf weight silks and half scale dresses in general use the water soluble stabilizer. If you are unsure which brand or what exactly the stabilizers are ask at your local fabric shop. JoAnn's carries Solvy and Tear-Easy both by Sulky and are technically for machine embroidery work but are also appropriate for light weight fabrics. The other change is from machine basting the pieces to the fabric to hand basting. Hand basting is much faster and easier to deal with for silks. hand basting the seams before stitching also makes sewing the seams on a machine much easier as the layers do not shift. I will be posting more here and on the tips page shortly as I learn more and more about my work. As always creating patterns is a learning process and if you ever have trouble with the instructions please never hesitate to ask questions I am almost always at the computer or near it to answer e-mails. |
